Since your Porsche 992 already has the front camera installed, you may be just one coding step away from enabling the Speed Limit Info (SLI) function, which shows the current speed limit based on road sign recognition.
✅ To Enable Speed Limit Display (Speed Limit Info / SLI):
You’ll need to code the following using PIWIS:
1. Multi-Function Camera (MFK)
-
Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) or Speed Limit Info (SLI)
-
Parameter:
Traffic Sign Recognition -
Default: “Not installed”
-
Set to: “Installed” or “Active”
-
This tells the camera to process speed limit signs and send that info to the cluster.
-
2. Instrument Cluster (KI)
-
Show Speed Limit in Display
-
Parameter:
Display of Speed Limit Information -
Default: Off or Hidden
-
Set to: On / Visible
-
This ensures the cluster shows the speed limit, usually near your current speed or as a separate icon.
-
3. PCM Integration (Optional but useful)
-
No direct coding needed, but if both modules above are coded correctly, the speed limit should also be visible in the navigation view on the PCM screen (depending on map data + TSR working together).
🛠 Final Notes:
-
If you’re already using Traffic Sign Recognition for Lane Keep Assist calibration, then the hardware is in place.
-
Some 992s may also use map-based speed limit data in addition to sign reading — especially if InnoDrive or Navigation Plus is present.
-
After enabling it, you’ll typically see a white circle with the speed limit number on the digital dash.
